Founding Engineer, Infrastructure
Runtime Labs builds Óra at ora.app.
As a Founding Engineer focused on Infrastructure, you will help design and build the core systems that make Óra fast, reliable, and extensible. This includes event storage, real-time sync, integrations, media pipelines, model-grounded scheduling flows, and the backend primitives for reasoning over time and context.
About the Role
- Build core infrastructure for events, timelines, notes, images, prompts, and integrations
- Design systems for reliability, performance, observability, and data integrity
- Develop backend primitives for time-indexed memory, scheduling, and contextual retrieval
- Build integrations with calendars, maps, authentication, storage, and future data sources
- Create internal tools, tests, and workflows that increase engineering velocity
- Work closely with product and design to make infrastructure decisions that directly shape the user experience
About the Person
- Comfortable owning ambiguous systems from first principles
- Cares about product quality, not just backend elegance
- Moves quickly while building foundations that can compound over time
- Excited by infrastructure that is often invisible to users but essential to the product
- Interested in model capabilities, structured data, human-computer interaction, and new primitives for planning
- Wants to be an early long-term partner in building a new product category
