Founding Engineer, Product & Systems
Runtime Labs builds Óra at ora.app.
As a Founding Engineer focused on Product & Systems, you will help build the core user experience and technical primitives that make Óra work. This role sits across product engineering, frontend systems, model-grounded workflows infrastructure, and interaction design.
About the Role
- Build core product surfaces across web and mobile
- Develop natural language scheduling flows that turn user intent into structured events
- Design and implement timeline, event, notes, images, and prompt interactions
- Work on model-grounded product flows involving structured outputs, event previews, suggestions, and contextual memory
- Collaborate on the architecture for time-indexed planning, calendar integrations, media storage, and event context
- Move quickly from prototype to polished implementation
- Help define the engineering culture, product standards, and technical direction of the company
About the Person
- Product-minded engineer with strong systems instincts
- Cares about user experience, speed, reliability, and interface quality
- Can move across frontend, backend, data models, APIs, and model integrations
- Comfortable working from ambiguous product ideas and turning them into clear, usable software
- Strong taste; notices details that make software feel calm, fast, and trustworthy
- Interested in calendars, timelines, memory, agents, tools for thought, and AI-native interfaces
- Wants high ownership and is excited to help define a new product category from the beginning
Nice to Have
- Experience with React, Next.js, TypeScript, SwiftUI, Postgres, or modern mobile/web product systems
- Experience building AI products, agentic workflows, structured generation, or model-integrated applications
- Experience with calendar, maps, notes, productivity, local-first, or consumer software
- Strong design intuition or prior work with high-craft product teams

Location & Compensation
Austin, San Francisco, or New York City preferred. We are building with an in-person bias and expect meaningful time together during the company's early formation.
Salary: $160k–$240k depending on experience, role, and location.
Equity: meaningful early-stage ownership for long-term partners.
Exceptional candidates may be considered outside this range.
