Founding Engineer, Product
Runtime Labs builds Óra at ora.app.
As a Founding Engineer focused on Product, you will own Óra’s primary mobile surfaces and ship high-quality iOS and Android experiences. This role is for engineers with a strong background building mobile applications who want clear ownership of the client product—timeline, events, scheduling, notes and media, and model-grounded flows—working closely with Infrastructure on sync, APIs, and reliability.
About the Role
- Own Óra’s mobile product surfaces end to end: timeline, events, scheduling, notes/media, and model-grounded flows
- Ship high-quality iOS and Android experiences with strong interaction craft, performance, and reliability
- Develop natural language scheduling flows that turn user intent into structured events on mobile
- Work closely with Infrastructure on sync, APIs, offline/reliability, and the contracts between client and backend
- Move quickly from prototype to polished implementation on the primary mobile experience
- Help define mobile product standards, engineering culture, and technical direction for Óra’s client surfaces
About the Person
- Strong background developing mobile applications on iOS and Android (SwiftUI/Kotlin or equivalent)
- Product-minded engineer with clear ownership instincts for mobile client surfaces
- Cares about user experience, speed, reliability, and interface quality on mobile
- Comfortable partnering with Infrastructure on client–backend contracts, sync, and offline behavior
- Can turn ambiguous product ideas into clear, usable mobile software
- Strong taste; notices details that make software feel calm, fast, and trustworthy
- Interested in calendars, timelines, memory, agents, tools for thought, and AI-native interfaces
- Wants high ownership and is excited to help define a new product category from the beginning
Experience
- Experience building AI products, agentic workflows, structured generation, or model-integrated mobile applications
- Experience with calendar, maps, notes, productivity, local-first, or consumer mobile software
- Strong design intuition or prior work with high-craft mobile product teams
Location & Compensation
Location: San Francisco. We are building the founding team in person and expect to work closely together during the company's early formation.
Salary: $150k–$200k depending on experience and role.
Equity: meaningful early-stage ownership for long-term partners.
Exceptional candidates may be considered outside this range.
